"I've Got Your Number" is a fun, fast read!

Hi all!

In between my "Beautiful Creatures" obsession, I quickly finished "I've Got Your Number" by Sophie Kinsella in one evening!  It was a fun, fast read that I highly recommend.  Poppy, the main character, is as funny and ridiculous as all the other Kinsella heroines (ie: Becky, Samantha, Lexi, etc.) but sure to make you root for her despite her shennanigans.

Be sure to read it as you cuddle on the couch keeping warm during predicted Winter Storm Saturn!

News and an epiphany!

Hi all!

So first, the news: "The Art of Love" Book 3 in my Fabulous Four series is now available for sale as an e-book on both Kindle and Nook (with a fabulous cover, once again designed by my friend, Abra Ebner)!

I am so excited and relieve to finally have it done so I can focus my attention on my other projects, namely Book 4 ("Tender Awakenings") and the second installment in my paranormal romance series as well as a book of romantic short stories called "Homecoming".

Many thanks to my family for their patience while I wrote and edited "The Art of Love", as well as to my faithful editors...you know who you are!

Now for my epiphany: It recently occurred to me that I have been going about this blogging thing all wrong. I've felt like it was a burden and often wondered how others kept up with it on a regular basis. Don't they have a life like me, full of commitments like work and family? Then I realized what I had been missing all along: my posts don't just need to be about my books, do they? I can write about whatever I want and, if you're interested, you'll read it. Why not share anecdotes about my daily life, etc? It's certainly sometimes more interesting than what I'm reading or what I'm writing about today...at least to me. So here is something small, non-book/writing related:

Our middle child is 8 today, so a big shout out to our Maddie Mooks!  We love you infinity and beyond!

Anyway, until next time, go get "The Art of Love", and...

Happy reading!

Finished "Beautiful Darkness"!

So far so good with the Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl series!  I just finished "Beautiful Darkness (Beautiful Creatures)" and am still enjoying it.  Next up is "Beautiful Chaos (Beautiful Creatures)", which I can't wait to start.

Something I love most about this series are the funny or insightful lines from the characters.  I think my favorite is Link, Ethan's best friend, who is brilliantly stupid.  His lines have me laughing out loud at times.  But all the characters have their moments of hilarity or insightfulness, from Amma to The Sisters to Liv and beyond.  Their Southern wit is as sweet as their tea (although Liv is British, so don't get your knickers in a twist!).

Here's are a few samples of lines from "Beautiful Darkness" that had me chuckling or nodding sagely:

"You're just holding on to a different edge of the same jagged hole.  We're both lost." - Ethan

"What can I say?  I have that effect on the ladies.  This voice is as smooth as butter." - Link

"We don't get to choose what is true.  We only get to choose what we do about it." - Marian

"Cat's stupider than I thought if he, doesn't know about Amma's fried chicken." - Link (as he and Ethan look for Lucille, Aunt Mercy's lost Siamese cat)

"As the Good Lord as my witness, we cleared outta there faster than a cat with its tail on fire." - Aunt Mercy

"The right thing and the easy thing are never the same." - Lila (Ethan's mom)

"Ya'll are gonna find that gold-eyed Lena Duchannes.  Even a blind squirrel sometimes finds himself a nut." - Aunt Prue

"Face it.  The four of us are dead...With one dead cat." - Link

I could go on but I'd rather hear from you.  Tell me some of your favorite Caster Chronicles quotes!

Until then,
Happy reading!
